Blend together liverwurst, mayonnaise, thyme, and chives. Use cookie cutter to cut rounds from thin slices of bread. Spread the rounds with softened butter, then with liverwurst mixture. Cut the bacon strips crosswise into 6 pieces each. Lay pieces of bacon on top liverwurst. Chill until serving time. Broil canapés 2 inches from moderate broiler heat until the bacon is crisp, browned or curled. Serve at once. Makes 18 canapés. |
