| Orange Date Scones
1 3/4 cups of flour 1/2 cup of sugar 3/4 teaspoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda 1/2 cup of butter 1 egg 2 tablespoons of milk 1 teaspoon of orange peel 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla 2/3 cup of chopped dates |

Combine all dry ingredients. Cut in butter, add dates. Combine all liquids, beat slightly to break up the egg, & add to dry ingredients. Gently shape dough into a ball; place on floured board & pat into a large circle about 1/2" thick. Cut into wedges, place on baking sheet & bake at 350ºF. oven for 15 to 20 minutes. |
