Whole Wheat Muffins

1 cup of Whole wheat flour
1 cup of flour
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup of light brown sugar
3/4 cup of chopped walnuts
3/4 cup of raisins
1 cup of milk
2 Eggs, beaten
2/3 cup of melted vegetable shortening

Preheat oven to 350ºF.  Grease and flour 18 muffin cups. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add brown sugar, nuts and raisins. Combine milk and eggs. Mix in shortening and blend well. Stir into dry ingredients just until moist. Fill muffin cups a little more than half full. Bake 15-20 minutes.
