| Bavarian Pot Roast
3 - 4 pounds of beef arm pot roast 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil 1 teaspoon of salt 1 freshly ground black pepper 1 teaspoon of ground ginger 3 whole cloves 4 medium apples, cored, quartered, and skin left on 1 small onion, sliced 1 cup of apple juice 3 - 4 tablespoons of flour 3 - 4 tablespoons of water |

Wipe the roast well and trim off all excess fat. Lightly rub top of roast with oil. Dust with salt, pepper and ginger; insert cloves into roast. Place the apples and onions into crock pot and top with roast (cut in half, if necessary, to fit easily); pour apple juice around roast, not over the top; cover and cook on LOW for 10 to 12 hours. Remove roast and apples to a warm platter; turn crock pot to HIGH; make a smooth paste of the flour and water then stir it into crock pot; cover and cook until thickened. Makes 6 -8 servings |
